hello guys, I’ve got Ashland Aropol XO (vinyl ester), Ashland Maxguard gt tooling gelcoat (vinyl ester) and I have a question for you: their shelf life is like 8 months, how can I do if I have to store one of them for a longer period?
split in 5 liters tanks and freeze? (-17°)
you could ask the tech guy at the manufacturer. i am curious myself.
Freezer definitely helps. I keep all my expirables in a chest freezer. Gives you a few more months.
thanks Hanaldo.
vinylester/polyesters usually come pre mixed with cure promoters. You can order them without it as well, and then you have to mix them in. I used to do this at a previous job. We would get the un-promoted resin in 55gal drums and then we’d promote it varying ratios depending on the season.
If you can get it unpromoted than you could store it longer. Otherwise the freezer might help? the ester resins will cure over time naturally, even without the catalyst.
