Which material out these three carbon fibre, fibreglass and Kevlar is good enough to make any body car part like the hood?
What do you want from it? you can use all 3. For exterior parts I use carbon and a layer of aramid/kevlar.
If you want something real strong use kevlar, Real stiff use carbon, cheap use glass. Combining the materials=combining those properties.
Nice stuff, those composites, just compose the materials to your wishes
There is this project I’m currently working on and it requires me to find three different solutions(materials) and choose one which surpasses the other two in properties. It can be for anything really interior or exterior as long as it’s properties are worth while.
Compared to the steel original hood, all 3 will be lighter. For a structural standpoint, Glass and CF are the best, kevlar is horrible and soft. The #1 is CF, where you have high strength and light weight, but is expensive.
Adding kevlar TO the glass or CF will help aid in fracturing protection. CF will shatter easily, and the kevlar will stop that.
