I have about 20 square feet of carbon fiber just sitting for the past year so I want to do something with it. Always have idea’s but really would like a nice looking smooth finish like I see with the infusion stuff. So noob or not I just want to get everything for a vacuum infusion set up and throw some money away trying to master it. My parts will not be very large, a 1x3’ pan for my scooter is the largest project I have planned, so I figure I won’t need too large/expensive of a vacuum motor. Can anyone please send a list of parts I will need? Got my large work table cleared off and ready for a carbon fiber station:)
Use the search function at the top of the screen. There are a lot of simmulair topics with a lot of information about this subject.
There is a nice recent thread in the equipment talk section like 6 or 7 posts down. its 2 pages long
Call a few peel ply and vac film manufacturers and ask for samples, go to Harbor Freight and pick up a vacuum pump (dual stage), some 3/8" vinyl hose, tees, and spiral wrap, buy resin and yellow tacky tape, and you’re in business… Oh, and you’ll probably want some PVA so you can take your first few parts off the mold and throw them in the garbage. Ain’t as easy as it looks the first few times.
You can buy many sample packs that have 5-10 yard kits that have bag, tape, peel, breather, hose from 60-150 bux.
