Today I used laquer thinner to wipe uncured epoxy resin off of a cured part. The laquer thinner took the gloss of my part. Can someone recommend a solvent that won’t harm a gloss finish?
If the solvent doesn’t take off the gloss, then it is not doing it’s job.
Safest to harsh:
water
soap & water (or heated warer & Resin emulisyifier)
Rubbing alcohol
Paint thinner (mineral sprirts)
Lacquer thinner
MEK
Acetone
Brett,
Could you possibly just have used soap and water with a little elbow grease, since it was uncured epoxy? Maybe try apple cider vinegar? I don’t know…just a thought.
what was the cured part made of i wipe my finished parts with acetone all the time with no problem may be it was the epoxy that faded it??
brings to mind last week we had a hood mold with un catalized gell coat that was a mess!!! wont forget the cat valve again but we used acetone to clean it up
