Has anyone had any experience with this epoxy?
remind me who makes that stuff again?
It’s made by a company called PTM & W Industries.
Yes I recall that one, I was looking into getting some of it but was advised against it from some members on this board (brittle apparently)… I can’t recall what thread it was but I’m sure you could find it ina search.
if your looking for a good room temp cure tough epoxy infusion resin with a high TG for roomtemp, try huntsman 8604 infusion resin. highly recommended
Just looked it up. Pretty impressive for a room cure only.
370cps with a 2 hour gel time. Infused TG of 176 degrees cured at 77 degrees for 7 days.
Beats the stuff I like by a long shot.
What does that mean… “TG of 176”?
TG is the temperature which the resin begins to destort or fail
If that’s *F, that’s terrible! I think this is a resin we had considered trying and decided against for that reason.
thats actually a pretty high Tg for a room temp cure epoxy. if you want a higher Tg the 8600 series infusion resins go much higher, the 8604 is the highest Tg with out requiring a post cure, 8605 and higher require a post cure
Have you been able to find a low cps epoxy with a high TG that doesnt require a post cure?
I know the higher cps epoxy’s hold up well to heat, just havent found a low one that will.
The PT2712 is great stuff, I use it on allot of parts. It’s got a good mixed viscosity (320 cps.) but it has a a low TG of 161F but it works for me.
A part can reach almost 150F just sitting out in the sun. That’s a bit too close for comfort. Not to mention a lot of parts are used in engine compartments or next to equipment that may put out a bit of heat.
The resin we use most holds up to 220. Some of our others are cured at 250* or 350*.
TET, what epoxy are you using that holds up to 250+ F?
I need something that can withstand 250 without failing or distorting.
The stuff i use now turns all “flexy” at 140-150F Not good, not good at all for being next to a hot exhaust and engine. Sh&t I may have to build a make shift tent oven… that sucks.
Anyways TET … resin mfg and product # please
I need a mixed epoxy that has a cps of 400 or less. This 600cps i use infuses too slow.
