Epoxy Compatible Polyester Gel Coat

Could anyone please recommend a good epoxy compatible polyester gel coat?

I have found a Scott Bader one, Crystic GC 252PA But I have yet to find anywhere that stocks this product and from the brochure it seems it is sold in 25kg drums, I would prefer a smaller quantity first to test it out.

Hello marc.w, I have tried this product and found that it would not adhere to the epoxy systems that I use, PM me if you want more info.

T30 or T35 from Scheufler MGS is usually ok as well. Just not anywhere near water. windgliders are ok though

I agree with herman

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll look into the Scheufler gel coat.

Something I’ve done that works very well. I gel coat with a Marine clear gel coat, let it cure over night, then scuff it heavily the next day. It worked for me :). I don’t use epoxy much though… Its overkill on most parts.

I never worked with pe gelcoat on epoxy. I did however work with a skincoat. PE gelcoat, VE skincoat, epoxy Product(boat hulls and decks in my case).
Kind of heavy, but works great. I know there are ty-coats available too. they too are heavier, but require less work. I still prefer paint on most parts though…

I have MGS T30, but I can’t find max temperature of this gel coat. Someone can help me?

Probably 60 degrees or so.

ok…I’ll do test…I would like to use it like gelcoat mold with epoxy…but if his max temp is 60°C isn’t ok…

An idea similar to this. Has anybody here have any experience with spraying Duratec clear over sanded / scuffed epoxy parts? Will that work? Could that give you more options as far as what epoxy to use?

i spoke to these guys a while ago . not tried it yet but they sell small quantities

Looks the same as T30 from MGS/Bakelite/Hexion/Momentive Speciality Chemicals Stuttgart GmbH.
