Embedding into a mould

Hi Guys:)

I’m making casts in polyurethane from a silicone mould and would like to attach a badge or logo to the finished part. I’ve bought some clear resin to play with and am thinking of embedding a logo or similar.

Question is how would I get this into my finished part? Is there a way to make a new mould and then put in the logo and cast in polyurethane? The only way I can think of doing this at the moment is casting a part with a hole and then filling that up with the clear resin and logo. This would be way to much of a pain as I will be doing a large number of reproductions.

Thanks for any help in advance

So you want to embed the logo item into the casting. Yes. Maybe. Depending on how well the mold is made, the logo might have liquid leak around the edges to the front of the logo. However, it might not, and seal well (using silicone mold, I would think so)
Or, if you want the logo to be “floating” in the casting resin, you can make it do that as well.

I would say attach the logo to the master mold, as you want, and remold it. When you cast a new part, just plop in the logo and go. It should work, and be easier than molding a hole where the logo will go, and have to secondary bond it.
