Hello, anybody has used the elastic vacum film? I’m interested to test it. Where can I buy it?
I use it and it definitely helps over pleating normal vacuum bagging film in certain situations. It’s advertised as being able to elongate to over 5x its normal size (Stretchlon 200 is, at least) but I would say it’s more like 2-3x before it snaps.
In my opinion your tooling as to be set up and designed to accommodate it. In mine, my entire part is laid up in a ‘valley’ below where the vacuum film sits taught across. When I pull vacuum, the bag contracts down into the valley and conforms to any features of the tooling.
The film doesn’t release very well from epoxy so keep that in mind. Mine actually completely sticks to the breather material after it’s soaked out and cured with my epoxy mix. However this stuff is used in something called ‘the method’ and can be coated with a release agent to release properly - just wanted to give you a heads up on that.
Look into Stretchlon 200, 700 and 800. See the product section of www.airtech.lu for more info.
When you send a request to them, it will be forwarded to the Spanish distributor.
I thinking to use to fix the cf to the piece in the lay up process, once cf is fixed would remove the stetchlon and start to lay up.
