Edges in mould...issue

Hey guys I was wonder, what is your ideas for cutting laminated collars which were used for setting infusion materials.

I mean how you trim edge without loosing it?

You rather trim excess of material in mould until you meet the mould edge? or you took part off from mould and then trim it?

Hey fiberpro!

If you are asking how do operators trim fabric that has been laid into the mold, or weather or not they cut the fabric flush with the edge of the mold, I think that people do it different ways.

You want to make sure that you are leaving room for your bagging materials, so you want to make sure that the fabric is clear of enough flange area in order to allow you to lay your bag effectively, but aside from that, Iā€™m not sure that there is a right or wrong way to go about the rest of the operation.

I think that you would probably just want to focus on keeping the flange as clean as possible, and make sure that you keep your fabric down in the mold while you are applying your infusion materials, and when you are pulling the bag down.

If you choose to leave a bit of fabric laying on the flange while infusing, no worries. Simply trim it off after you pull the part. I always have a little bit of material that lays on the flange when bagging and it has never caused any trouble. You can kind of see what I am talking about in the pic below.
