Duratec vinyl ester?

Wonder if Duratec vinyl ester hi-gloss clear topcoat, is something anyone has used rather than clear poly gel-coat? If so wonder if its affected by UV, and what is the clarity and durabilty like in comparsion to clear poly gel coat? (need clear product for Eglass parts)

TIA

Chris

if it is just their normal topcoat, I used it every once and a while. It is not UV protected though. I talked with them awhile ago and if I wanted to order 3 55 gallon barrels they would make it UV protected. Which I was thinking about repackaging and selling 5 gallons at a time

Does it work ok?..and whats it like to use in comparision to something like clear poly marbling gel coat say?

TIA

Chris

I found that the topcoat is really good for building depth if you are going to then cover with a clear coat. I also received the same response form Duratec about it not being UV stable. It sands easier than resin and builds faster.

Thanks for that…spoke with Duratec yesterday, and looks like their poly high gloss top coat may be more suitable for what we are wanting to do. Have some arriving in the next few days, and will be interested to see how it works.

Being in contact with RevChem (Duratec parent owners) and they have told me many new things are close to production ready, soon…
