I am curious to know your methods in using the surfacing primer. After wet sanding I spend hours upon hours waxing with multiple products to get a smooth surface without swirls. Is there a faster way?
You neeed to buff and polish with a power polisher. Waxing alone won’t work.

by power polisher do you mean some kind of product or some kind of tool?
Yes, something like this although you can find some much cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001GUE8Q/qid=1090337346/br=1-2/ref=br_lf_hi_2//103-7788818-5971864?v=glance&s=hi&n=552818
cool, thanks for the link. I bought it and will try it out on my large plugs. Any recomendations for a small plug?
You can get small 3" buffing pads for small plugs. If it’s something really small then you can just use a cloth and buff it out by hand. Hit it with a buffing compound first then go back with the polishing compound.
