Hello,
I am working to build a Formula SAE composite body, and to accomplish that I am planning to use 2" thick rigid insulation foam to build the initial plugs, the build tools off of these and then parts from the tools. Our plan is to build foam blocks by laminating the foam and then CNC them to the body shape with a slight offset to account for the Duratec. We thought we could just then put Duratec Grey Surface Primer on top, but we did a test today and it eats away at the foam (which makes sense since it is polyester). I found Duratec makes a similiar product called Styroshield Primer meant to protect the foam from this chemical reaction that eats away at it. I was wondering if the Styroshield is a replacement for the grey surface primer, or would we apply the styroshield first, and then after it has cured apply the grey surface primer on top of it?
Thank you for any help!
