DuraTec High Gloss Coating Vs. Additive ???

Im about to start my first Mold Project and I intending on ordering the High Gloss Additive to mix with my Tooling GelCoat. I was planning to spray GelCoat via a HVLP gun.

I seem to have ordered the wrong item and actually have the Clear High Gloss Coating. Duratec sites says that you can add this to tooling gelcoats, but will it give me all the advantages of useing the additive?

With this coating would what are the advantages of using the Coating over say a Clear GelCoat?
I was planning on infusing a CF part. I presume I would spray this into the mold and then lay up my cloth Dry, and then infuse.

Sorry for the all questions.
Thanks in advance.

If you are speaking of the 094-045 clear top coat, you are correct. Spray it onto a mold that has already been waxed and prepped for release.
Then lay in dry cloth and proceed with the rest of your infusion process preparation.

So to clarify. One is essentialy a clear coat, and the other only an additive that has to be mixed with something?

That’s correct. I’ve read the additive can be mixed with gelcoat too.

MCarFanatic, I thought the clear coat had no UV protection?

How smooth is the surfacing primer without the additive? The place I got my primer didn’t have the additive.
