drape-ability

Need opinions on drape or conformability regarding satin weave carbon fiber. Is it similar to 2x2 twill? of the same weight?

Satin weave has a smaller tows and a tighter weave, it will drape much better than 2x2. The two cloths are visibly different from each other, not similar at all.

Do you already have the carbon? Any specific reason for using it? It doesn’t look very good for cosmetic purposes, and the options are limited for weights.
Satin weave is very drapeable, but often in one direction more than another.
Twill weaves are more equally drapeable in all directions.

also satin fray real easy… they have the most drapeability but their only use is when you want to make a part that force applied will have only one direction (or axis)

Actually its an 8 harness satin weave 3k and i like it’s looks as much as the 2x2 twill. If I use it axial strength will be 90deg. between laminates. Good to know about the fraying though it would be used without (epoxy gel). Carbon is US Comp.1042 carbon.
