All DragonPlate gloss carbon fiber veneer sheets have a .005" thick epoxy gel-coat surface which results in a beautiful, deep, crystal clear finish with no voids or pinholes. This added surface also preserves the depth of the carbon fiber weave. Without this extra gel-coat, the carbon fibers would appear excessivly flattened and compressed, as is typically seen in lower quality carbon fiber sheets.
For me compressed carbon fiber indicates a high Vf, an indication of high quality…
I agree with herman…Also I don’t think that Gelcoat is the reason for having or not flatened fibers. The production method is responsible for this.
