Double bag with stretchlon

I’ve been doing a lot of double bagging as of lately and besides for it being quite annoying I like how the inner bag doesn’t need to be 100% perfect but only the outside. The products I’ve been using are MTI hose and a regular bag from acp composites.

I’m wondering if anyone has used the stretchlon bag for just the inner layer but regular bag with pleats on the outside? It makes sense in theory and could save a little time.

Hi, if you use stretchlon for the inner bag it is no problem, BUT if you don’t make pleats in thefirst bag and will stretch the bag with the vacuum it wants to go back to its original shape. When you infuse resin the bag will relax, independent from the second bag and suck resin which will createresin rich areas.

Won’t the second bag, outter regular bag hold the stretchlon bag in place?

No it doesn’t work like that. The second bag does NOTHING but improve your vacuum integrity, that’s it.

Also Strechlon isn’t great for infusion. It works if you’ve got an internal flow media, but if you are using flow mesh then the Strechlon stretches so much it fills the gaps in the mesh and slows the flow down so much you might as well not have mesh.

Well there goes that idea. Haha. Thanks for the heads up.
