this is my biggest mold yet and its 2 piece, just wanna check im good to go before i start it 2morow
where is the second parting line?
That won’t come out of the mold as far as I can tell.
you need a flange here.
i considered parting it there but it was proving tricky,i parted it as shown in thie pic.this is a oem part that is no longer made,it is pretty poor quality and was made in 2 peices where i am parting it,you can see daylight thru where they have bonded the two parts together, very poor,so im thinking the large part should release???
Using oem parting lines on their parts is a safe bet.
wish me luck then, got 4 of them to do!! should be some good money to be made from them if i can get em right.
am i correct in thinking that i can pull either a carbon or glass part from the same mold??
that aluminium tape works fantastic btw, cant remember who sugested using it but thanks
how do you know where the oem parting lines are?
You can usually see the parting lines on a part. In some instances you may have to remove the paint to be able to see the evidence. Look closely at nterior trim parts that aren’t painted. you will see the parting lines very clearly. The oems will be very cafeful to make any visible lines as clean and crisp as possible.
My buddy works for Johnson Controls Inc. as an inspector for all greined molds. His job entails approving the grain and the quality of the parting lines.
this part is very poor, they have actually made the part in 2 pieces and stuck them together,it very thin around the join,so im doing it as one piece in glass or carbon, whichever people want to pay for.
oh I know what you’re talking about, thanks.
stew you got pm about brushes!
