degassing/infusion catch can

I know this has been covered before, but are you guys buying your vacuum can or making it? http://www.bestvaluevacs.com/ is fairly close by- 1 day shipping, but I’m a little leery about them. I figured for vacuum infusion, you’d want the input side from your sealed mold going into the can by itself- not in a T. The T looks like it could allow resin past the can and into your pump. True?

Went to the local building supply store and found 4" PVC that is rated at over 3 bar, or 100psi. I thought about getting a cap for one end, but I’m not sure how to seal the other. I see people using thick acrylic and a neoprene seal, but I’m not sure where to get that stuff.

Also see a few people using pressure cookers. Good idea? Or paint pots? How about a pickle jar? Any thoughts? I’d like to spend less than $100 ideally, so the big fancy options aren’t on my radar screen. Thanks!

I just looked at Best Vacs website. I think it’s a pretty good deal they offer on their equipment. You can make a cheap one out of pvc. I like a degassing chamber that I can see in. Also the brass plugs can be drilled out when full of resin. With DDC vac hose you don’t have much resin through the vac lines.

For European people you can look here:

I went ahead and got the one I linked. I was going to make one, but for $75, I just got one already made. I guess I’m getting lazy in my old age. lol
