Cutting fabric

I read about this technique on this forum. I put a piece of masking tape on my fiberglass biax and cut it down the middle. It worked great, no frade edges on ether side.

When I pulled the tape off to apply the resin, the tape ripped off the top wave of the biax. What am I doing wrong? Thanx.

as far as I know…you use the tape to keep the weave straight and clean edged. but you should have that part out of your mold so the tape doesnt interfere with anything.

I think your using the tape for the wrong reason

Um, you’re not supposed to pull the tape off. Of course it will damage the fabric when it’s removed. The tape is only applied so the you can cut the fabric and not have the material fall apart at the edges. Keep the taped areas out of the mold though.
