Would you recommend a good crystal clear epoxy resin? My epoxy is a bit yellowish so i am searching for a water clear resin. Thanks!
all the epoxies I know of are not crystal clear.
Perhaps System3 makes one that stays clear but it’s expensive and i can’t be certain if it is 100% clear.
Why do you need it to be crystal clear:confused:
I think that an item made of carbon fiber will look better if the resin is clear.
Generally if you infuse a part the epoxy surface on the cosmetic side will be so thin that you will not see any coloration, or very limited amount for that matter. It should be clearcoated anyways, which will all help in uv longevity.
Agreed^^
I have seen some pretty dark resins, yet the parts do not take on the color, its only because when you see it in the cup its at a thickness it would never be at like when applied or infused into the part.
Casting resins - like for “bugs and spiders” in a desk mount are clear. Bar top resins are clear too. Can’t say if wither is epoxy - you’d need to look - also UV inhibitors may "color"the finish.

Tabletops are usually Epoxy, I have used them before and they were quite clear, but also quite thick so may not be the best idea for infusion, but bagging would work I assume?
USComposites makes stuff called Kleer Koat, might be what you need ?

Im going to Koat some urethane pour foam with it to hopefully get a hard smooth finish to mold off the foam ?
MadMike, it may work using that to coat PU foam but it is probably not the best product to use for plug construction.
I would test a smaller size sample of cured PU foam and polyester resin brushed onto it. See if the foam has an adverse reaction to the resin. The thing about KlearKote is it may be difficult to sand smooth or polish. I can’t vouch for that because i’ve never tried using it.
You could use pu foam, lay a layer of fiberglass cloth and resin over the foam; then smooth that out using filled resin and block sanding the plug smooth.
Maybe if you say what your project is some folks here can suggest materials to use for the plug construction.
CC PER will be too thin for plug coating…you need something like a gel coating with wax or surfacing agent in it.
