Coremat for wet layup?

Is Coremat suitable for wet layup, can you wet it out and lay it up in the middle of your carbon layers?

Also, is it rougly as conformable/pliable as CF (will it stretch and conform as well)? or does it need to be trimmed at all the sharp corners and what not?

Thanks.

There are several types:

Coremat Xi: For wet layup, colour indicator (blue, turns white in contact with resin)

Coremat Xm: For wet layup, less drapable, but more regular in thickness. I even used it in wet bagging. (50% vacuum)

And then there is the Soric range, for infusion. (SF, XF, LRC, TF, XXF), and a range for fire retardency.

Herman, you’re a helpful fellow. How conformable is it? it doesn’t look like it’s capable of hugging tight around comples curves, like the bidirectional strands of CF is capable of.

I have a roll of Soric Xf in 3mm that is very conformable. But it does require the occasional relieve cutting/slicing for tight fitments. I believe most if not all cores do.

Thanks. It doesn’t look like it would have any stretch to it so I had to ask.

The Sorics have a bit of stretch. The Coremat Xi is very drapable when used with polyester or vinylester. The Xm is less drapable than Xi, but still no problem.
