I need a generic flat panel.
I can’t grab scrap honeycomb core, so I wanna get some foamcore from fi****st.com or elsewhere.
It has to be about 1x2 foot, and pretty strong. (luggage rack for motorcycle, to replace the 10lbs metal one)
Should I just add a layer or 2 of prepreg, and forget bout foamcore? Is 1/8" foamcore reaaaaalllly that strong to dignify the use of it?

Or you might want to try perf-paper core mat too.
The core will give you an “open” space for light weight strength, sort of like a box or tube. the “open” space can help with torsional rigidity if the shapes are designed properly and weaves laid properly. youcould also use strips of core to make a corrogated structure.
