Converting a 'Vacuum Pump' to an 'air compressor'...

I’ve read you can convert a compressed air source into a vacuum source by using a ‘venturi vacuum generator’. Does such a thing exist to create a pressurized air source from a vacuum pump?

I’d think the exhaust of the pump could be harnessed to feed a tank or air tool directly…

I’m using a Edwards E2M-5 pump for what it’s worth…

Some pumps can do it, but if your pump is not designed for that, you will run into problems.

I would not risk your nice dual-stage rotary vane pump for that, and but a cheap air compressor.

I checked the manual for your pump, and maximum pressure on the outlet port is 0,5 bar, so not possible to run as a compressor. The pressure generated is just for pushing the air through a filter, to clean the exhaust air from oil.

Ah, thanks for the helpful explanation.

I’ve noticed ‘fridge pumps’ are a re-occuring topic - I may look into a larger style pump to convert for compressor duty. It’s quiet and I have low CFM needs.

Don’t waste your money converting the pump. Getting a nice compressor for a good price isnt hard :).
