i had a console someone wanted to modify to accept gauges,i removed the ash tray across the middle and constructed a glass fibre patch i also had to fill in a cup holder and cover 2 defunct switch holes then overlay it all,took 4 months on and off!! but happy with the result 
Thats a credit to you stew, it looks fantastic. Did you use epoxy and lay down the carbon before it set up? I have done a few successful overlays recently and wish you could achieve that pure 3D effect when vac infusing. I remember doogie saying some years back that he pulled full vac then infused and then backed off the vac to around 20 or so. I have tried this even backing off as low as 15 but cant get the unflattened look that an overlay gives. Ill keep experimenting.

yeah thats one thing that bigs me about infusion that it flattens the weave so badly,how about using plain weave? i did three sets here and one one in plain,looked fantastic.(overlays)
