Compression molding lids and hatches

Hello all,

I am doing some compression molding for some lids/hatch covers. We are using a displacement molding compound or squish molding compound to make these parts. The parts are very simple: gelcoat male and female, 1 oz chop skin on male and female, then squish molds together with core and putty in the middle. I am just wondering if anybody had experience in making parts this way and you have any tips and tricks to share.

Thanks

I don’t any experience although I would really like to see some pictures of your process and of course learn a bit more about it.

It is very similar to what is outlined in the pdf.
