compress molding

I’m making a part that is 3 layers of 3k twill carbon fiber. I need to compress mold it and have no air bubbles in the surface of the part for asthetic reasons. The part is 4" round with a 1/4" length 90 degree lip. The corner is radius’d about 1/8". So far the corner has no air bubbles or voides… just the main surface has tiny air bubbles.

I can use polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy so long as i get a clear finish for the visual effect.

Any suggestions?

What is the press molds made from?

I would love to see a few pics of the mold pieces and finished product, perfect or imperfect. What resin and lay-up steps are you currently using?

Also, what kind of weight is your finished piece?

Im asking all this because I wish to make an RC model Deck Hatch very close to this size out of CF. It must, must, be very light and of a sufficient strength.

Your current process and also some solutions for your imperfections would be very welcomed info.

Is it pre-preg or wet layed?
