Composite Starter Kits

Hey guys,
I’m going to grad school soon which means I’ll be dirt poor again, more so than I was in my undergraduate years.

I would like to ensure this site stays strong though and would like to save some money for hosting fees and a possible upgrade of the forum software to replace this aging vB3 platform.

Instead of begging for donations though I would like to offer composite starting kits. My garage is full of bagging materials, peel ply, green/red flow media, a few bags of filler, tacky tape and possibly some fiberglass. Since I won’t be here to use it I would prefer it gets placed into the hands of people starting out in the world of composites.

If anyone is interested let me know what you need/what you’re trying to do, and I can give you some tips, as well as give you supplies you need to get it done.

I’ll price as I go but keep in mind that all the funds will be saved to ensure the forum stays active.

With that I’ll take requests!

Any full rolls of flow media? Any color? Cost?

I am very new and am looking for a kit to get started as I read threads and watch videos. I am looking for equipment also.

I don’t have full rolls. I would prefer not to sell all my stock at a discount to someone established. I would prefer to sell small quantities for a cheaper cost to beginners, to help people get into composites.

Let me know if when you need consumables and what you’re trying to do. I’ll try and match what I have with what you need!

I’m very interested, I would be interested in some of everything actually. I am planning on making some smaller parts for my dirtbike to practice on (skidplate, rotor guards etc). Hopefully you still have some stuff left over when I’m ready, due to my current job, they aren’t paying out until November. I’ll let you know then!

I prefer to give you a donation.

Hey canyon what are you studying in grad school? On a different note have you heard any feedback about cerritos college composites program.

I’m studying Manufacturing Systems Engineering. It ties in well with my current job, career goals and my passion, which is basically making engineered stuff.

The Cerritos College program is excellent. I know a few people that have gone through it and they all have great things to say.

Hey canyon, I’m looking at getting started in vacuum infusion. I’m looking a doing a few small parts starting with making a mold for these parts. Any info on getting started would be great, looking basically for a list of things I need to pull a mold from these parts (which are about 2x2) and also a list of items I need to get started in vacuum infusion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I’m interested in starting to make Fiber Glass molds to use Texalium, maybe CF. I will be focusing on replacing dirt-bike plastics. I would like to do vacuum molds rather then just hand laying the pieces. Once I am allowed to Private Message, I’ll send you a message and we can talk from there.
