Composite gear: MINLON (Nylon 6) - RUBER

Hi to everyone,

I am interested in making a composite mechanical gear for a water pump, comprising of two parts. The first one will be a polymer and the second one rubber which will be vulcanized (in the presence of S) on top of it at 160 degrees Celsius. I have the following questions about the selection of the polymer:

  1. Is MINLON (mineral reinforced Nylon 6) a proper selection for the polymer in terms of mechanical characteristics? If not, any other suggestions?

  2. The adhesion between MINLON and the rubber part is a crucial characteristic in our application. Will this composite system (polymer-rubber) be able to handle torsional stresses?

  3. During the vulcanization process at 160 degrees Celsius, will the MINLON part remain stable?

Thanks in advance
