helo guys, anybody can help me to study on complex shape manufacturing process??(L-shaped)…if anyone have your journal, really want to used it as reference…please email at hssn_hfz@yahoo.com
An L-beam isn’t that hard to produce. I made a lot on a bend aluminium peace. 1 side smooth, peelply on the other. Do you have more info?
Communication by forum is better, that way we can all learn from each other
basically in non-homogeneous like composite there are still have a issue at corner radius like corner thinning, corner thickening and wrinkle. The point is,anybody can share there experience how the problem can be perform and how to solve the issue by adjusting the manufacturing process…hope anybody can help me…
I make all my sharply angled stuff with two piece presses. This way you get an accurate shape and thickness on both faces. The corner comes out perfect. It does require stable tools.
what do you mean by two piece presses??you used single mold with intensifier?
You have a male side and a female side (see photo below). You do the layup in the female side and clamp the male side into position. No vacuum bag is necessary. You make a bunch of clamps like in the picture below. Also see a photo of a small carbon part that was made with a two piece press. You can see that all the excess resin gets pushed out of the part. You alter the Vf by torquing the nuts on the clamps to different levels. The part in the photo below has a Vf of 68%.
If the corner needs an inside fillet, I layup half of the layup then lay down pieces of carbon tow into the length of the corner. After the tow is in I lay in the second half of the layup. You many need to experiment to learn how much carbon tow needs to go into the corner.
When torquing the clamp nuts you want gradually torque them together. I use the ratchet setting on an electric drill/driver to get them close. Then I use a torque wretch to finalize everything. You may need to go back after a few minutes and torque everything again as the excess resin works out of the layup.
Make sense?
yup…make sense…the but ill try to make it using a single mold and only used vacuum bagging pressure.what ever it is,thanks for the ideas…really appreciated it.
How large is the part? Is it all straight or does it have a curve in it? How many do you have to make?
A mold, vacuum bag, and caul plate might work well to keep the corner at a uniform thickness.
