Color difference

Hi guys,

I bought some extra parts and noticed the color difference…
Any suggestions to get this right all the same color?

Paint them? I’m not sure how you can change the color of a composite at this stage. Maybe someone else has some idea or technique.

Paint should make the panels match up nicely!

Any idea if the weave will still come through?

if you tinted some clear it would…

have a painter look at it in some decent light and have him tell you what to do

It most likely will. If you can deal with a few extra pounds for a smoother finish, they can prime, block sand, then paint.

paintjob! A painter can even those out with some “smoked” clearcoat.
The color of aramid can vary on different materials. With carbon it will be darker, full aramid will be brighter yellow, like the fiber is when it’s dry.

The colour of kevlar will change under the influence of UV light. I see this very often on kevlar sails for sailing yachts. It will start with a light yellow colour when the fibers are new and will change to a dark yellow/organge colour when they are exposed to a few hours of sunlight.
That could explain the colour difference of your parts.

With kind regards,
Jeroen

So I just need to wait… and see…

paint it and mask your lettering. also mask in a design that way it reviels the aramid.

The colour difference will get less, but I’m not sure that it will completely disappear.
I know this isn’t very helpfull, but it does explain the cause of the colour difference.

normal aramid/carbon panels are in epoxy, epoxy should be protected forum UV light, as should the aramid.

So a nice coat of clear right?
