cnc machined molds

I’m looking to have a couple high quality aluminum molds made, something small approx 4x5x3/4in. Anyone know of a shop that would do something like this. It would involve surfacing from a solid works model.

Did you ever try a nearby university? Sometimes, I know they’re looking for money for a racecar project and etc. Hey, I personally would rather give my money out to students making projects without money from their own pockets and done in a university owned shop, than a real shop that actually has to pay bills. Although, you might be sacrificing something in return. And it’s usually time, students sometimes just dont have the time.

There are a lot of shops that do this. Most machine shops with automated mills do this kind of work.
Just look online or in the phonebook, and contact them. They often will be able to take your SolidWorks file and turn it into something they can use.
Hopefully you realized that this will NOT be cheap. Even for these tiny parts you want to make.

I know it wont be cheap, but I haven’t had it done before. My guess would be 500 a peice.

The shop where i work can probably do it. There may be a $100 tooling fee added to the cost of making the parts. I’ll look for the website url. I don’t know it off hand.

The tooling fee covers any milling cutters we don’t have in stock, i think it covers the programing cost also.
