Clear coats

hi guys,

Ive been using clear coat on my finished laminated parts about 12 hours after the last coat of resin was applied. This started to bring out what looked like frost marks on the clearcoat. little cracks, white in color.

Now understanding the the resin still vents after a certain amount of time, i left the last few parts about 10-15 days before clearcoating them. the frosting never occured. Obviously this is not good, as i have to keep the part from half a month before giving it to my clients.

I use SP115 epoxy resin as it has a really high finish to it.

Ive seen people mention using 2k clear coat but if it still vents then i think it may do the same

Any suggestions are more than welcome

It seems like most epoxies benefit from a temperature cycle up to 150F/65C. If you treated your parts to this they would likely gain strength and accept clear after returning to room temp.

I post heat my products to what I believe the max that the product will see in real time use. I go to 150F.

Then use an Imron 2 part clear.

Well if it ever got to 150F here in the UK i would be a happy man, hahaha

Cheers for the reply’s, suppose i best get my new oven made
