This was the first time I had to clear coat a part and it turned out good! To prep for paint I wet sanded the part to 400 grit. Then I cleaned it and used three coats of spray max 2k high gloss clear. After 24 hours I ‘cut and buffed’, 1000 - 1500 - 2000 grit wet, and then final polish. The stuff works really well. It was kind of expensive at $19 a can plus shipping but thats way less than what the paint shops wanted. I was worried for a little while because the part was very foggy even at 2000 grit but after a little polishing it turned clear again. I need to find a cheaper way to clear coat parts. Maybe an airbrush?
Paint gun and clear coat.
