thanks
You say you don’t use 2k but the clear you mention is also a 2K. Why don’t you want to use 2K ?
because i dont have the equipment to spray safely, how do you know its a 2K? every other one i looked at states in the description 2K…im confused lol…
Because it states it needs a hardener. That’s what 2k means, 2 component. 1k paints are air-drying, they don’t require the use of a hardener.
Look for an acrylic single pack clear coat. It will chip and scratch a bit easier than a 2k coating, but it is still pretty tough. Keep in mind though, while 2k polyurethanes etc. are exceptionally dangerous to your health; single pack coatings are also a risk. You don’t want to be breathing too much of any of these chemicals, so make sure you have a good quality respirator when you are spraying anything.
generally 1k, like a base/clear system uses lots of thinners - toluene.
id would argue that you are better to use 2k, better coverage, less thinners etc than a 1k. other than that all the same gear is used, gun, mask, gloves, overalls, the lot.
I’m clear coating with 2K Mipa Klarlack CS
its a bit of a pain so i’m going to try an in mould coating instead
