Clam shell molding techniques?

Hi, I’ve been looking on the net for a while now and i just can’t seem to get my head around this technique of producing a 3D object e.g a spoiler. I’ve read a tread about (below) Kyankton doing a piece on a Saab using a clam shell moulding. Any help or a point in the right direction will be great.

Basically, it is 2x molds, a top and a bottom molds that bolt together.

You make a custom mold for the PUR foam blank (with some surfacing veil glued to it) that is smaller all the way around for the reinforcements and resin binders.

There’s open ports in the top and bottom (or ends) for you to inject (expensive machine) catalysted resins in the top and bottom to float the foam blank. Once the resins are coming out of the other side ports, close them and the feed ports too.

Wait till it cures, and open up the molds…

You might be able to wet lay up each side of the molds with CF or FG and then green trim to the egde. Then add the foam blank and do as stated above…

But then what do I know…?
