Just got back from the bodyshop to take a look at my cf hood that came in yesterday only to find that it had a chip on a corner about the size of a quarter. It had shipping insurance but my bodyshop signed it off as being recieved in good condition. Either way it a rare hood that is no longer made for my car making it non-replaceable. Seems that the chip didnt affect the carbon fiber and only damaged the resin. If that’s the case, is it repairable still? My bodyshop (never worked with cf before) said it wasnt fixable but I refuse to believe that
Any pointers on repairing it would be great, I’ll try and post pics later today.
Thanks in advance!
if it is just a gel coat chip you can just fill it with clear gel coat, make sure it is UV protected.
hell even if its epoxy, you can fill it and then clear the hood over. You may see a slight line like spotting in clear coat on paint but its better than no hood
Can you take some pictures?
Just fix the chip with epoxy filler, and paint the hood body color.
