Chevy Volt Fail

From what I’ve been reading it sounds like GM lied about the Volt’s powertrain. It was previously thought that the car would be 100 percent electric with gasoline used only to recharge the batteries.
It turns out that the gasoline motor actually does drive the wheels and this in turn both decreases the expected mileage substantially and eliminates the innovative idea GM had proposed.

This kinda sucks since I was hoping for an American car comeback. In my lifetime I’ve only heard the stories abut how cool American cars were, back in the days where anyone could work on their cars on the weekend and the best way to increase speed was to flood the bored out 454 with more gas.

Er didn’t mean to rant but I hope American manufacturer’s can pull it together and make awesome new cars, not just rehashes of formerly popular models

 I have always been a GM guy. The town I live in is where I grew up and we were a GM town, that made the Tahoe, Suburban, Denalis, etc. Our plant was here since the early 20’s and was GM’s 2nd manufacturing facility and it closed down at the end of 09’ We now have 18% unemployment and more local jobs are going “south”
The local paper always has article about hopes of the plant reopening due to the demand for these new all electric vehicles that gm was going to produce… Well it looks like those hopes are down the drain! Just about every friend or neighbor I have had has someone in the family that worked at GM. It is very sad to see what was such a great American icon turned into junk…
It gets better too. Rumors have it the new Tahoe, Suburban, Denali, Escalade will be built off that UNI-BODY Traverse chassis!!! WHAT ARE YOU SERIOUS! Say bye bye to the Full size SUV actually being a truck. :worried:

On a good note, this video makes me happy with a GM product! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6muw6pqzk_c

GM: what a mess. Since they sponsor the website of Jay Leno (about his car collection) and made it impossible to visit his website from outside USA, I promised myself not to buy any GM product.

I get really tired of these arrogant pricks thinking “We are from the US of A and if we sponsor a website, we will make sure only people from the USA can see it.”
They do forget they have a foreign market to pamper as well.

No way. That is completely ridiculous. It’s just rude for a company to sponsor a website and then shut it down for the rest of the world. How often does this happen?
If you find it annoying enough you can use proxies to fake an American ip.

Even though it helps reduce costs I thought GM would have learned by now that making the same car in three models is stupid. I guess not
