I was wondering if infusion (via vacuum) is the way to go for my project (dashboard) to produce and ultra smooth and bubble free product.
My biggest concern with doing that would be deforming (bending, twisting, warping, etc) the dashboard due to the vacuum and having the resin cure to make a permanent misshapen piece.
If you are talking about overlaying an existing dashboard with a layer of carbon, infusion isn’t going to do what you want.
You don’t have to have deformations on your part if the mould is properly done. Not so critycal.
And curing is just a question of correct mix ratio and enough time + temperature.
I would be more concerned about pinholes or voids …
(Always talking about vacuum process with a mould and a serial production, not for an overlay)
If you have a mould (or can splash a mould) you can do infusion. Especially when you follow the instructions for MTI hose to the letter, you can produce void free parts.
Do a search for MTI hose on this forum, there is a thread with a lot of info.
Looking at that I would think just wet lay in a vac bag would do…
