CF Hood and Canadian winter

was wondering if the CF hood will hold up over Canadian winter? With the snow, ice, salt/sand de-icing mixtures… will the CF hood hold up?

i’m thinking of replacing my rusting OE hood with CF… that way i will not run into rust issues in the future. but am worried if the CF will be practical for winter… :?

As far as I know composite materials are not greatly affected by cold temperature. There’s a great deal of effort required to make it stand up to heat, but not vice versa.

well I have to disagree, being cold the resins get very brittle.

Depending on how its made and the installation you shouldn’t have probs.
However mine for example has stress cracks on the lower section where the grill attachs as well as the mounting points for the hinges. Very Low quality purchase

never thought about the chances of cracking… i thought it would have issues with de-luminating if water gets between the layer and the freeze up. what process are there to gauge whether the CF and resin are of proper grade and laid up correctly?

my apologies if these questions seem rather elementary… i would like to avoid the need of swapping back and forth hoods due to seasons… but am also concern whether the CF will stand up to the winter months (recently we have dipped below -20C for a few weeks)…

thanks for any advice or experiences that are shared.
