Certified Composites Technician

Wondered if anyone has seen this and if they are certified? Is this the industry standered for certifications or are there other certifications I should be more concerned with? Also how does one take the test, do you have to go someplace, or take it at home? Is this something even worth doing in the composites world? With my current job I know I was only ahead of the other applicants because I have Solidworks certifications. So if that helped me with this job… who knows where this certification could lead

It’s good for low end markets, but won’t help you in aerospace, pro race teams, or other real jobs.

I have vendors reps with CCT credentials coming to my office all the time, and for the most part they really don’t know much about composites materials or processes. Just enough to deal with basic materials for pool and boat builders.
Regardless, knowledge is power. Going through the CCT course would still be helpful to most and will teach you something new.

Just out of curiosity, if you were looking to pick up more people at your shop, what would you be looking for on a resume? Anything other than experience at another shop?

what’s there to know about building boats? bucket loads of gel coat, vinyl ester resin, and tons of woven roving and fiberglass mat  jk

Tell that to Wally yacht builders. I’ve had some consulting calls with them, and they are doing some things that are more high tech than what we do for fighter jets!

Basically that’s what I want to know too.
