Hi, Im from Montreal,Canada, I work with Methyl Methacrylate (CarbonAcryl) at my job, i do Vaccum Bagging ‘‘force’’ Infusion method with PVA 6’’ bag. Its an OrtoPedic Technique . :smiley:

Is anyone work with the same resin ? :idea:

nice work. there a few o+p people here who would know that resin well. you should check out using a boa system for those boots.

Those Double Nylon Strap are very strong !! Very good for the support , we have Buckle System like snowbnowding boots.

When I saw it, I was wondering about the Vf of your product. From the film footage it seems that you have quite some resin left in the product. Or do you use some trick to get rid of it?

I put around 85 to 120 g of Resin and 3g of Hardener(powder) in the PVA Bag into the 8 Layer’s of 6kT300 and U.D. 3k Carbon Fiber. The resin left stay in the bag at the end(toes of it ) or go in the breather, there’s about 10-15g that is wasted. After 30min. I can take off the bag , and start to sand. The cure is very fast !!! :smiley:

I am really impressed by your work and I am hoping to emulate with my own project of a boot. I am struggling however to find any supplier of pva bags. Could you tell me where you source yours? or would you know of a suitable substitute? Also any tips on your layup or things that should be considered It would be greatly appreciated. I have a roll of PVA film over here, but that is not much of a help.

But seriously where do you get it? I have tried medical and orthotic suppliers and am having no luck? Only thing Ive found are bait bags that are too small.:sad:

It seems that there is a factory in Japan. I bought the roll from a customer, but also got an offer from a company that sells the stuff to people making medical laundry bags. (toss contaminated laundry in the bag, the bag can safely be transported, and once in the washing machine it dissolves.)

1: you can get PVA film from fabric shops. Jo-Ann’s (Eastern USA) has it as a binder.
2: why in the world PVA bag? Why do you use that? It does seem to conform well.

Because, for our Technique of Forced Infusion , We need PVA Bags (6’’) , And the PVA mold very well the C.F. , Only thing with PVA Bags , they crack very easy ! I need to be very careful … like a women :slight_smile:

We break the mold in two parts and store it for about 2 years if the skater want another pair or a modification.

I laminated a new fabric on my Inline Skate, from Composite Envision , it’s 3k Single Plain Weave RED/BLACK Carbon Fiber Holographic ! The look is awesome!! I will post pictures soon! :slight_smile:

Very cool stuff and nice shoes!!! I was actually going to post and ask anyone if they know of a strong yet flexible resin system that works with carbon. Aside from the posted do you , or anyone else, use/ recommend any other resins with flexibility in them? (Sorry, not trying to take over your thread :P)

The Methyl Methacrylate ( CARBON ACRYL-HARZ ) Resin is very solide and flexible. Very good with Carbon Fiber and Fast Cure !!! Easy to work with 3g of powder for 100g or resin.

There’s also some Epoxy with good flex ability !

Hope you will find to right one for your project !
