Somebody has this experience to use carbon Fiber and resin polyester? Is the polyester resin wet the fibers enought as Epoxy and Vinylester?
It will work fine just like the others but this is not so common to do. High strength expensive fibre mixed with low tech cheap resin?? The resin may be the weakness in this case?
Usually a product made from carbon will also step up to better resins too.
Yes I know that to reach the best carbon properties its a must to use other resin systems. But its a costumer requimerent and they use a layer of carbon combined with the other glass layer just to have electrical conductibility (lightining).
I am curious if someone measured the strength difference.

though carbon is generally sized to work with epoxy based resins like vinylester or epoxy. I’ve used polyester with carbon but, It was just practice. I don’t know if the sizing would effect the properties or if it would matter that it was meant for epoxy? I would think it would make a difference.
As for electrical conductivity, there are materials specifically for this purpose. Lightning strike meshes and copper conductive layers that are rated to dissipate the lightning hit. Carbon fiber does not do this, is not made for this, and would not be sufficient for this purpose as far as I know. As with most things, it may be possible but, I have not seen this to be the case for aircraft. I’m assuming your not working on an aerospace project?
