Easy and nice parts. What do you think?
Nice ! Are they solid K ? Or blend ? What was your trimming method/tool of choice ?
What do you mean by solid or blend?
Trimming method: metal angle grinder put on fire…
Very slick!
I think what he means is was the fabric fully kevlar or a hybrid… looks like a carbon / kevlar hybrid to me.
Yes, it’s a hybrid.
nice job, these are clear coated?
good work.Infusing a bootlid out of carbon kevlar this weekend.First time I have worked with hybrid cloth
Carbon Kevlar is really nice stuff to work with until it comes to trimming time!
What exactly do you mean by ‘metal angle grinder put on fire’?
Parts look great and really well finished off and trimmed.
Angle grinder… this is it… a man’s tool, dremel is for the girls
The tool we use to cut metals. Actually it is easier to cut steel than cutting this carbon-kevlar stuff.
The grinder does get really hot while cutting. Very strong material.
Yes, they are clearcoated.
Lol, I know what an angle grinder is!
So does cutting with this get rid of the fuzzy bits of Kevlar? Must make a lot of smoke with a metal cutting blade, but I’ll give it a go.
very sweet stuff. infusion or vacuum bag?
also, where did you buy the fabric from, fibermax?
cheers from athens.
does this mean I should run out and buy an angle grinder with 4" cut off wheels? lol
I love the precision of my Dremel, but I would love to have one of these… http://www.grainger.com/1/1/142271-makita-ge0600-die-grinder-3-4-2-0-a-120-v-25-000-rpm.html
Thanks aga!
It’s vacuum bagging. Actually i have never tried infusion… yet…
Yes, i buy materials mainly from fibermax and this fabric is from them.
How fast are you in counting broken dremel discs?
the carbide disc i had for two years was a true hero, until i lost it! the metal cutting discs for dremels dont do a proper job for these materials, and it can leave burn marks on the resin…
I use the very small carbide discs on the box. They break very easily with this material and i try hard not to distort them while cutting. Maybe i should use the larger but thicker carbide disc?
Doesn’t matter how make it. The result are excellent, very good:cool:
