Here are some pics of the carbon fiber hood and rear wing that I recently finished for a Saab that we showed in DC Hot Import Nights on June 25th. The car took first in class “Other European” and was generally well received. The rear wing is the result of a clam shell mold with a foam core, not an overlay.
very very nice! could you post pics of your mold for the wing?
thanks
No problem on the mold pics … It will have to wait until after the holiday weekend as I have closed the shop for now. Cold Coronas and fireworks are in store. In regards to the wing design, the carbon wing works out much better than the stock injection plastic molded wing because the original had a lot of flex in the middle and at high speed the shape is compromised. The carbon wing is really stiff and does not bend like the other. Score one for the carbon folks!!! Its not just about the looks.
awesome! Glad to hear you are having success with your products. It is a change sometimes from hearing all the problems people are having! I know I have had my share!!!
…Nicely done there I’ll add too !! When you joined your upper and lowers, did you manage to snap any pix of the blend points ? I’d enjoy a view of that if possible ?
I’m assuming once joined …the whole piece is cleared ?
Thanks…
yeah me too! kinda a comparison of what I am doing to see if I can improve
Very nice work
i like the front grill also
cant wait to see more pix.
These are close up pics of the join of the two halves.
awsome setup…all of the guys in this thread are top notch and i feel that you all help in the products people are showcasing. Kyankton, your threads are very well put together and pics are top notch…
kyankton that spoiler looks mint, if you could explain how you did it…that would be greatly appreciated…been trying to figure out how to do a part like that ever since I took up the art of CF. Anyways keep up the good work.
good job, I amminterested in the foam part as well. I know we discussed the job prior to your doing it, but was interested in seeing what steps worked for you.
