Carbon fiber vendor

I typically order everything from solar composites and with their carbon being of very good strength I still am but let’s say I wanted to step up my products? I’ve been doing some reading and it seems that around 40msi is the industry standard. I’ve heard that 80 is better though and still easy to work with without being to fragile.

I know hexel rates differently and another rates with “t” but where can I find high modulus carbon fiber at around 80msi?

Also is all spread tow high modulus?

You are really talking about two separate things.

The 40 Msi you are referencing is the tensile modulus (a measure of stiffness). Usually above 42 Msi is considered intermediate modulus. Anything over 55 Msi is high modulus.

If you want more strength you are looking at the Tensile Strength, which is stress to pull apart the fiber.

And “no” not all spread tow is high modulus. Spread tow is literaly taking a carbon fiber tow and spreading it so it covers more area, thus “thinner”. That is why it gives you that big square look versus the normal woven look.

Ah ok I was getting timings confused between tensile strength vs tensile modulus. Let me do more reading!
