Carbon fiber table top

So about two weeks ago we started a new project for a new company in town. Its a 3" thick carbon fiber table top. 36" x 96". The thing is so heavy we move it by fork lift haha!

We started off by screwing 3 layers of 3/4th inch ply wood together. Like so.

Then we sanded the sides and edges to remove any uneven spots.

After that we poured a gallon of black tinted epoxy to black out the wood.

We then added a second layer of black tinted epoxy. This time we poured 1.5 gallons.

We applied the carbon fiber.

Poured 1.5 gallons of epoxy.

Then another 2 gallons of epoxy.

Then brushed, sanded, and brushed more epoxy on the sides.

In total we used about 6 - 7 gallons of epoxy.

Right now were in the middle of sanding everything down to polish it.

Materials alone so far are around $1000 :.

Nice!

Do you know Polytex X1 resin?

Which of the mean looking dudes is you? Are you in a shop or something?

I’m the guy in the protective coat who looks like he can use a good estimate for a hair cut.

We were doing this at our distributors as a demo for other customers and to just give customers something fun to look at while shopping.

I never herd of Polytex X1. What kind of epoxy is it?

1:1 mixing, low UV, thick, very suitable for spotless casting, like you did. It needs some waiving of a gas torch, to remove air bubbles.
