Has anybody came up with a new carbon fiber product or idea and had it patent. I have a few new idea I want to get patent under my company’s name. For carbon fiber products do I get a provisional patent or a full non-provisional patent.
Thanks
Patents are practically worthless unless you have $$$ to sue anyone that infringes on your patent. Most people end up going broke from the lawyer bills. Just imagine going up againsts GM. They can easily spend millions and millions of dollars on their lawyers. Odds are you won’t win.
Patents are usually issued to new product designs or processes. If you make a copy of something out of carbon, you won’t be able to get a patent. You also have to prove that no one else has made it. Someone can also prove that your patent is invalid because it was already made by someone else.
If you develop some super secret exotic product or process, the patent requires you to fully disclose the product or process. This allows someone to reverse engineer it and consult their lawyers to find ways around the patent.
you are very very correct!
