Carbon Fiber Panel

Hey Everyone, this is my first post out here, well im looking to make a really cosmetic carbon fiber sheet at 3mm thickness.
Done my research and it looks like theres no hard and fast rule to getting a cosmetic looking sheet on both sides of the panel, unless you use the rtm method or some other expensive manufacturing technique.
But with some brainstorming i wanted to check with a pro if this is reasonable to do.
What if i VARTM a sheet of 3mm thickness, demold it with my desired finish on only one side and then VARTM a single layer of carbon fabric simultaneously…

Now with two sheets of different thickness can i join them together perfectly to give both sides the cosmetic finish.
If i can do this please also let me know how would i go about joining these two sheets, epoxy adhesive or VAARTM again or wet layup sandwiched with clamps between two glasses?

Why not just use vacuum infusion in between two sheets/moulds. With 3mm thickness there is enough for you to include a thin infusion core like soric or even just leave a flow mesh/medium within the laminate.

If you are really want a quality surface and UV then you may also use a clear gelcoat like Duratec Sunshield on each mould before you set up for infusion.

Hello, i dont think i would be able to infuse between two sheets unless i see a diagram of how its done.
Basically looking to make a carbon fiber wallet. Like a business card holder out of a single sheet of carbon fiber 3mm thinkness.
that would mean cutting around 0.76mm into each side of the sheet so hold the cards, so a single sheet of carbon fiber holding two cards on either side, and need the core to be solid because it will be abount 1.5 mm thick after its cut out. Something on the lines of the keplero wallet.
The whole point is to get a proper finish on both sides.
Any suggestions?

forgot to mention this will be a combination of fiberglass and carbon fiber to cut costs. So just a recap 3mm sheet, near perfect finish on both sides, how would i achieve this.

Hand laminate and apply a mylar sheet over top.Not sure what exactly your making but its the simplest and cheapest way.

Mylar or Petg in .030" thickness
google will send you to some ideas.

I can offer you any thickness (1-50mm) full carbon fiber sheets(both sides are cosmetic and void less), for reasonable price if you interesting.
