Carbon Fiber Hatch Cargo Cover

Here is a couple pictures of a carbon fiber cargo hatch cover that I recently completed. The original piece was made of compressed fabric scraps. I first soaked the original with resin and then added a couple layers of fiber glass to start the process of creating a smooth surface. Then I added body filler until the desired surface was achieved and coated with Duratec surface primer. The final steps were to sand and polish.

Also, here is a pic of the carbon fiber interior that I recently finished overlaying.

wow, you’ve become a pro!

everything looks awesome! Just out of curosity, on the cargo cover about how long did it take you to smooth it our with filler after you glassed it

It did not take that long to sand the filler smooth. It is a lot easier to smooth that stuff out then resin. After that I put down some Duratc primer with high gloss additive to make it smooth on the final coat. Then a bit of wet sanding followed by compounding and then polish. So, I guess that are a few steps afterall.
