Guys,
I’m looking into making my own rear diffuser but for the life of me cannot visualize on how to layup and infuse the fins in one piece, let alone removing it from the mold.
Hello, you need a multi piece mould. It is not easy but it works. We have made similar diffusors with infusion and split moulds.
In the fins you can work with a internal flow media because it will be a pain to peel that off.
okay, so i would have a flange to the multi piece mold situated down the length of the fin?
I’m not sure if i quite understand…
I’ve tried laying up fiberglass over a balsa fin, and laying infusion mesh with infusion lines for the fins … It infuses well … but like the man said, it is a bitch to remove the peel ply/infusion mesh. I had to sand the peel ply/infusion mesh off far too many places and refinish. I now mold my 2 central channel fins separately and rivet/epoxy them to the central piece.
You could also make three separate 'U’s and rivet epoxy them together as well. Picture the UUU upside down.
Hi mate, have u managed to make this diffuser?
